Silhouettes on Watercolor Sunset Sympathy Cards

Well, I thought I'd share with you another silhouette sympathy card.  I made this one at the time as the one I shared in my previous post.  This time I used watercolor paper for the image and a different set of silhouette stamps.  The card design is basically the same as the butterfly sympathy card, except that the orientation of the sympathy card is vertical as opposed to horizontal.  As a result, the image is a little different in shape and size, but the architecture of this silhouette sympathy card remains the same.  I selected black and apricot for my base colors and a hummingbird as the focal point.  I also decided to use watercolors to create the background for the silhouette image.  In the end I made two cards with different color schemes.  So let me share with you how I created my Silhouettes on Watercolor Sunset Sympathy Cards.

The Making of Silhouettes on Watercolor Sunset Sympathy Card

Card Front

Black cardstock was cut and scored to create the base card.  The image was produced first on a panel of watercolor paper.  I wet the watercolor paper with water using a brush and then brushed three colors across the paper to form the sunset background.  Once the watercolor was dry, I stamped on the hummingbird and morning glories.  This completed image was matted with black cardstock.

To complete the front panel I cut a piece of apricot cardstock and identified the placement for my front sentiment.  The sentiment "With Deepest Sympathy" was printed on the apricot panel and the matted image adhered in place above it.  This completed panel was affixed to the front of the black card base.

As you can see from the picture, this card has no added dimension.

Card Inside

For the inside panel, the words "Thinking of you and your family at this difficult time" were printed on a panel of apricot cardstock.  A silhouette of ivy was stamped along the lower edge.  This panel was affixed to the inside of the card base.

I also made an envelope from heavy cover stock to compliment the card.  The image on the front of the card was scanned into my computer and cropped.  I printed the cropped image on the lower left corner of the envelope and sprayed it lightly with sealer.

Final Card and Envelope Combo

I liked the way that this card turned out.  Like my previous sympathy card it is fairly simple.

You can purchase this card and envelope ensemble from my Etsy shop: Silhouettes on Watercolor Sunset Sympathy Card

As I mentioned at the beginning of my post, I duplicated this card using a different color scheme.  I used black and mellow yellow.

Second Sympathy Card

As you can see the card is identical to the one above with the exception of the panel and watercolor background colors.  The inside panel is also created from the mellow yellow cardstock.
