Hurricane Irene Is Headed My Way

Just a quick post.  Hurricane Irene is making a bee-line right towards me.  We are suppose to be hit very early Sunday morning and do not know which side of the eye we'll be on.  Here's crossing my fingers that the eye goes east of us. Right now the path of the storm brings the eye right over us, but it's too early to tell where directly it will come ashore.

My husband and I have been doing a lot of preparations because they expect us to lose both power and cell phone service for several days.  We don't have to evacuate because we're far enough away from the coast that the surge is not an issue for us...it is going to be the wind and rain.  We have been securing things around the house and making sure we have enough supplies for the duration.  We're lucky that we have a generator so even if the power goes off we can run the generator periodically so that we don't lose all of our perishables.

The last thing I have to do today is move all of my potted and hanging plants to a safe haven.

I'm not sure when my next blog post will be...it all depends on power availability and after storm clean up.

Boy it has been a rough year between all of the snow, flooding, and now a hurricane.  Oh, and I felt the earthquake that hit Virginia earlier this week.  The house shook like crazy.

Anyway, I'll post an update as soon as I can after the storm.
