Pile of Pumpkin Jack-o-lanterns Halloween Card

I've made several Halloween cards, but none that have featured pumpkins or jack-o-lanterns.  I can't have that, because what would Halloween be like without fields of pumpkins for sale and jack-o-lanterns on display.  I have an interesting stamp that is a pile of jack-o-lanterns.  Nothing real fancy, but I thought it would be fitting for a Halloween card.  I decided to use a design that I have used on two previous Halloween cards: Witchie Halloween card and Black Cat Be Afraid Halloween card.  Following the same steps as I used for these two Halloween cards, I created my Pile of Pumpkin Jack-o-lanterns Halloween card.  The color scheme was based upon the Halloween paper I selected to use on the card.

The Making of a Pile of Pumpkin Jack-o-lanterns Halloween Card

 Card Front

I cut and scored the base card from yellow cardstock.  The front panel was composed of layers of blue cardstock and hunter green Halloween paper.  A layered strip of blue and yellow cardstocks runs down the center of the front panel and is embellished with blue grosgrain ribbon.

The image was stamped on an oval of white cardstock and colored using Prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  I sponged ink around the jack-o-lanterns to create the background.  The front sentiment "Happy Halloween" is printed on white cardstock sponged with ink and matted with blue cardstock.  A blue bow is the final touch to the front panel.

This angle view of the card front shows that the only dimension is the bow.

Card Inside

The inside panel of the card is white cardstock printed with the sentiment "From Our Patch to Yours!" and matted on blue cardstock.  It is embellished with a strip of the Halloween paper and a jack-o-lantern punched from orange cardstock.  Note that I have placed a piece of yellow cardstock behind the jack-o-lantern's face to resemble candlelight.

My logo is placed on the back of the card.

I also made an envelope from heavy cover stock to compliment the card.  A jack-o-lantern was stamped in the lower left corner and colored using Prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  Ink was sponged around the image to create a background.  Sealer was lightly sprayed over the image to protect it during its travel through the postal system.

I enjoyed making this card and think it would be nice to send to a family that lives a distance from you.

Tidbit of wisdom from the experience: Little bows are a bear to tie, but get easier with practice and a lot of patience.
