Card Front
I used a periwinkle colored cardstock for the card base and created a separate front panel to adhere to it. The front panel I constructed from grey cardstock and layered it with the purple compass paper. Using the grey cardstock I punched out an oval and printed the sentiment "You give my life dimension" on it. To add depth I sponged purple ink around the edge of the oval. As an embellishment I used twine positioned at the top of the panel and attached the sentiment oval over it. I popped the panel to the card base to add dimension.
For the focal point of the card I used the digital image of the historical sailing ship. First I sized it and then printed it out on white cardstock. I colored it with gamsol and colored pencils and then fussy cut it out. Once it was cut out, I used a stylus to add dimension to the ship by rubbing the back with even pressure and the edges with a little heavier pressure. I popped the dimensional ship to the front of the card.
Angle Views of Card Front to Show Dimension
The above pictures show a number of dimensional elements on my card front. There is the front panel popped from the card base, the sentiment oval popped over the twine, and the ship sculpted and popped.
Card Inside
For the inside of the card I used a panel of grey cardstock layered with white cardstock. I added a band of the compass paper along the bottom.
I created a coordinating envelope from heavy cover stock. Before constructing the envelope I printed the historical sailing ship on the cover stock. After constructing the envelope I colored the ship using colored pencils and gamsol. To complete the envelope I sprayed the image with sealer to protect it in the mail.
Final Card and Envelope Combo
I love the ship on this card.
