Trick or Treaters Halloween Card

Well it's almost time for the trick or treaters to make their appearance.  I really enjoy seeing the little ones in their costumes.  There is a lot of imagination that goes into some of them.  With that thought in mind, I'm going to share my trick or treaters Halloween card with you.  I wanted to create a card is the spirit of the season and featured trick or treaters.  I found a verse that is different than the proverbial "trick or treat, smell our feet..." that fits the occasion.  So I present to you my trick or treaters Halloween card.

The Making of a Trick or Treaters Halloween Card

Card Statistics

Card Front

The base card is a dark maroon cardstock cut and scored.  I found a purple plaid scrapbook paper that I liked and complimented it with a pink cardstock matching one of the lines in the plaid paper.  I started my front panel by layering the purple plaid paper onto pink cardstock.

The image was stamped on white cardstock and hand colored using Prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  I sponged the background with a variety of inks to create the moon shining brightly in a purple sky behind the trick or treaters.  This image was matted with pink cardstock and affixed to the panel.  The panel was attached to the front of the card base and finished by adding a cat silhouette punched from black cardstock.

The card does not have any added dimension.  It has a very simple design because I wanted the focus to be the stamp.

Card Inside

Printed on white cardstock is the cute little verse I found to go with my trick or treaters.  I thought it was adorable and perfect for my card.  The sentiment panel was embellished with a strip of the plaid paper and a cat silhouette punched from black cardstock.  It was matted with pink cardstock and affixed to the inside of the card base.

I also placed my logo in coordinating colors on the back of the card.  If the card is a dark color I print my logo on a label and affix it to the center bottom of the card.  If the card is a lighter color, I will print my logo on the card base before scoring it.  Sometimes the logo is just an open outline like the watermark on my photos, but in a color that coordinates with the card.  Other times it is a filled in logo like that on the back of this card, except that it will be in colors complimenting the card.

Back Logo

This is a close up of my logo on the back of the card.  It is only 0.75" tall and 1.5" wide.

I also created an envelope from heavy cover stock.  The lower left corner was sponged with the inks used on the background of the card's image and a black cat was stamped on it.  I sprayed the envelope with sealer to protect the design while in transit through the mail.

This card got a chuckle from my husband and a "very cute".  Better than a funny face and grumble!
