Robots in Love Cards and a Snowy Visitor

For the past few weeks it's been eat, sleep, shovel.  I've repeated this sequence over and over again just like a robot.  Since I feel like a robot, I thought I'd share a couple of cards I made that feature robots.  I call them "Robots in Love" because I've given each one a heart.  To reflect the love theme I have selected bold red and pink for my color palette.  The robot cards are identical in architecture, however, they feature a different robot and sentiment.

Before showing you my cards, I thought I'd share a picture of a visitor to my snowy backyard wonderland.

Isn't he pretty!  This hawk landed in my garden across from the bird feeders.  It looks like he's closer to the ground than he really is because there is 2.5-3 feet of snow depth below him and I am taking pictures from an upstairs window.

Now on to my cards.

The Making of My "Robots in Love" Cards

Card Statistics

Card Front - Robot with a Heart Card

I created the base card from red cardstock and layered it with a panel of zigzag striped red paper matted with bold pink cardstock.  Above the decorative panel I printed the sentiment "You make my heart go Whirrrrrr".

For the focal point of the card I stamped a robot on cream cardstock and matted it on bold pink.  I colored the robot using gamsol and colored pencils and sponged a light pink ink below the robot.  Like the tin man, I gave him a heart punched from red cardstock.  To finish off the image panel I added a pink cardstock heart layered with a red cardstock heart.  This heart was popped off the image surface to add dimension.  I completed the front by affixing the finished image panel to the card and popped it from the surface for more dimension.

Card Front - Robot Love Machine Card

This second card is identical to the first except that I used a different robot and sentiment.  On this card I printed the sentiment "I'm just your love machine".

In the pictures above you can see the dimension added to the cards with the popped image panels and decorative heart.

Card Inside

I created a simple inside panel of cream cardstock decorated with a band of the zigzag striped paper and finished it off with a heart punched from bold pink cardstock.  Both cards have identical inside panels.

The envelopes I designed to compliment the cards are also very simple and are made from heavy cover stock.  I affixed a band of the zigzag striped paper down the left side of each envelope and topped it off with a pink cardstock heart.

Final Card and Envelope Combos

I enjoyed making these cards and think they turned out pretty cute.  They were a nice respite from the shoveling.
